Emma Lewis Mitchell Southwest Indian Pottery Contemporary Acoma Pueblo signatureAcoma Pueblo potters have, since the 1950s or so, been painting Mimbres designs on contemporary Acoma pottery.  They consider the Mimbres Indians as their ancestors.

Emma Lewis Mitchell is a daughter of Lucy Lewis and her siblings are Ann Lewis Hansen, Mary Lewis Garcia, Dolores Lewis Garcia and Carmel Lewis Haskaya, all of whom are outstanding potters.

This Mimbres design features three lizards of the same style, each panel divided by black triangular elements with a white stripe down their mid sections.
