Rebecca Lucario Southwest Indian Pottery Contemporary Santa Acoma Pueblo signature

What a fantastic Black-on-white geometric pattern jar by one of the premier potters at Acoma Pueblo today.  It has beautiful black diamond- or kite-like designs superimposed over a polished white slip, a red-slipped base and mineral black designs. It is truly a masterful form, with a narrow base swelling to a distinctive shoulder and perfectly proportioned neck. Painted as only Rebecca can, this jar features subtle gradation in size within the design elements from the base to the point of maximum diameter at the shoulder, then again the variant diamonds decrease in size up the neck to the rim. This truly is an exceptional piece, with a technical and artistic virtuosity scarcely rivaled among the Pueblos today. We consider Rebecca one of the premier contemporary potters, at Acoma or any Pueblo. Signed Acoma, NM R. Lucario.  The jar was purchased from the artist on January 2, 2010.
