Louis Lomayesva, according to various sources, was born sometime in the middle of the second decade of the 20th Century. He was mostly known for his paintings of kachinas using a subdued color palette.
This piece represents a traditional Eagle Katsina. According to notes written on the back of the painting, this dance was done both in the winter and summer and involved prayers for rain.
Condition: The painting appears to be on paper and is in original excellent condition. It is signed in pencil in lower right.
