Before 1900, most Navajo-made rings were simple silver bands. By about 1880, they began to set simple stones in them—glass, garnet, some turquoise—and after 1900, almost exclusively turquoise.

This lady’s ring is comprised of a three-prong split shank soldered to an oval silver base. At the juncture of the shank ends are silver dots. A simple silver bezel holds a beautiful Blue Gem turquoise oval stone with an extraordinary display of copper matrix. The turquoise is in perfect condition, as is the ring.
