The artist has made it easy for one to visualize the peace and tranquility as evening descends on the small pueblo of Isleta. He has captured the brilliance of the sunset as those of us in New Mexico witness it often.

The colorful clothing worn by the two women stands out against the adobe buildings. Cottonwood trees are visible over the rooftop of one of the homes, and a pair of hornos stands silently in the center of the painting. Soon they will be fired up for baking oven bread for which Isleta is so well known.

The painting is framed, signed Shirpoyo and dated 1/10 in lower left.

PERSONAL NOTE: The paintings of Ed Jojola were a regular feature at the gallery until his son passed away a couple years ago, at which time he stopped painting for quite some time. This past December, his wife passed away and he has now decided it is best for him to continue the art career he loves. We are pleased to have more of his paintings in the gallery and we hope to have them on a regular basis.
