In this painting Raymond Naha has depicted the hilarious antics of the Koshari Clowns. The job of the clowns is two-fold, to act as jokesters while enforcing correct Hopi behavior. Three Koshari watch as their fellow is thrown into a puddle ready to land on a whimsical frog. Every small detail from the Koshari’s clothing to the terrified frog is depicted with accuracy.
Provenance: From the personal collection of Frances Balcomb, owner of Balcomb’s Gallery, at one time located in Arizona, then Taos, Gallup, and Albuquerque, but closed since 1976.
