This is one of the most colorful and most dramatic paintings of Jojola’s career. The Hopi children gathered in a group with their colorful blankets are beautifully highlighted by the orange and yellow tinted billowing clouds in the background. The lack of buildings, trees, or other items that could be distracting causes the viewer’s eyes to land at the center of the painting, take in the beautiful clouds and then the children.
This is truly a spectacular painting and certainly demonstrates just how talented Jojola is. It is signed and dated in lower left. The framing was chosen by the artist to complement his work.
