Chaveyo and Hahai-i-Wuhti are the parents of the dreaded ogres known as Nataskas. Chaveyo, himself, is dreaded as his function is to show any Hopi who fails to perform his share of work or who acts in an unacceptable manner the error of his ways. He appears in dances at all the Hopi villages.

This carving is very well executed with proper body proportions and good stance. He appears to be from a single piece of cottonwood root, with the appendages and clothing added. He is in very good condition.

Provenance: From a private California collector who purchased it at Eight Northern Arts and Crafts Fair in 1977.
